Hook, Steve, 90, Windber. Passed away March 28, 2024 at home. Born December 10, 1933 in Windber. Son of William and Nancy (Harconich) Hook. Preceded in death by parents and brothers: Metro, George, Harry, and Mike and sisters Marie, Ann, Mary (little), Josephine, and Rose and daughter Brenda Hunter. Survived by loving wife of 60 years, Kay E. (Fry) Hook, and children; Son-in-law Mike Hunter, daughters Rhonda Glatz, Paula Keiper (Keith), Grandchildren Michael Hunter (Maggie Weyandt Hunter), Brandon Hunter, Danielle Glatz, Shawna Glatz, Joshua Glatz, Luke Keiper, Jake Keiper (Maria Krug Keiper), Kylie Keiper, and great grand children Logan Hunter, Laiken Hunter, William Glatz, Rosalie Myers, Emorie Strang, Willow Myers, Wyatt Myers, Christopher Strang, and Liberty Strang. Also, survived by his sister Nancy Washko and many nieces and nephews. Before he worked he was in the Army and served in Germany. Steve worked for Iron City Sash and Door for 39 years. Then he enjoyed his time after he retired by helping anyone who needed anything. He spent his last 11 years recycling metal to keep in shape and this lead to so many friendships along the way. He collected metals clear up to the last day of his life and loved every minute of it!! He was a well known member of the Windber community and an avid member of the Windber Covenant Church of the Brethren. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm, Tuesday and from 12 noon until time of service at 1 pm, Wednesday at Meek and Dalla Valle Funeral Home, Windber. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Windber American Legion Post 137 in memory of Steve Hook.
